Chandigarh Capitor Complex is located in Sector 1 and is recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. The entire complex was designed by Le Corbusier and is spread across an area of 100 acres that is display of modern architecture of the city. The open hand symbol located in the capitol complex is a symbol that is associated with Chandigarh and conveys a message to everyone that the city welcomes all without any discrimination. It comprises three buildings, three monuments and a lake, including the Palace of Assembly or Legislative Assembly, Secretariat, High Court, Open Hand Monument, Geometric Hill and Tower of Shadows.
