Disaster forestall at IGI airport in New Delhi
Tuesday doesn't seem to be a good day for the Airlines. Earlier this morning Jet Airways flight scheduled from Goa to Mumbai veered off the runway at Dabolim airport in Goa while aligning for takeoff. When everyone was busy reading about it and praying for the Jet Airways passengers, another disaster was forestalled at IGI airport, Delhi this morning. The two aircraft's, Indigo and Spice Jet narrowly escaped head-on collision at the Delhi Airport. Thankfully, no damages were reported.
The Indigo flight scheduled from Lucknow to Delhi with 176 passengers on board was on the taxiway after landing the flight whereas the Spice Jet flight came to the front for the takeoff. However, the Pilot's from both the flights could see the position of aircraft, which helped them rescue the collision and survive the crash. Meanwhile, DGCA ordered a probe into the matter and air traffic control has been investigating the role of the ATC.
