Victory Tower - Fateh Burj In Mohali
Fateh Burj is a 328-foot tall tower in the historical village of Chappar Chiri, just outside Mohali city. It is the tallest minar (tower) in India and is designated as the Victory Tower. Established on 30th November 2011, the tower honors the establishment of the Sikh Misls in a significant part of Punjab in 1711. It is situated inside the Baba Banda Bahadur War Memorial in a 20 acres plot.
The historical significance of Fateh Burj is deeply rooted in the battle of Chappar Chiri between Baba Banda Bahadur Singh and the Mughal emperor Wazir Khan. The legendary sikh warrior, Baba Banda Bahadur Singh led the Sikh army to a remarkable victory in this battle. This established their supremacy in the region and marked an important turning point in Sikh history.
Three Storeys of Fateh Burj
Fateh Burj has a structure of an octagonal shape and is divided into three storeys, with a golden dome and a Khanda on top. The first storey is 100 feet tall, the second storey is 150 feet tall, and the third is 78 feet tall. The First Storey honours the victory of Samana, the second storey for the victory of Sadhaura, and the third storey commemorates the victory of Sirhind which was fought at Chappar Chiri.
The triangular windows and openings of the tower represent the opening that the army had previously used to set up cannons and other weapons.
