The Hedgehog Mufflements: An Apt Addition For The Chandigarh Foodies
When The Hedgehog cafe had opened a year back, I was floored by its Menu. As if the ambiance was not to die for, the Menu was witty, ample and had something for everyone, be it a meat lover or a vegetarian. There were some items that became instant hits with the Chandigarh foodies and I was hooked.
But I had to be away for a month and when I came back, what do I see but a whole new addition to their menu. They call it The Hedgehog Mufflements; an apt addition for the Chandigarh winters. Who wouldn't have wanted some extra warmth during the Chandigarh January!!
So, this edition stays true to the Hedgehog character and has something for everyone. I'll tell you how.
Let's start with their soups. All the three new soups are vegetarian but have one for the far-eastern palate (Khow Suey), a creamy chipotle, potato soup for someone looking for warmth and the Hungarian Mushroom soup if you are craving for a simple, uncomplicated taste. I chose the Hungarian Mushroom soup and didn't regret it.
After my soup, I was ready for some munchies. There are two new cheese munchies- a grated cheesesteak served with good ol’ ratatouille and cheese pockets, flavored with herbs and served with a tangy tomato dip. If you choose the cottage cheese steak, I'm not sure if you will be able to go on to other dishes. It's that filling!!
But if cheese is not your thing, you can also choose crumb fried mushroom. And just as I was about to choose this, my eyes fell on the most hilarious name I've ever seen on a menu- The Bomb girls. I was told it was meat stuffed in onion rings. Who could have thought onion rings could be that hot. A must-try!!
Are you a sea-food connoisseur? There is an absolutely-lip-smackingly hot Harissa prawn for the brave-heart and a filling but mild-on-the-stomach tuna sandwich named after Homer's Odyssey for the ones who don't like being jolted out of their wits by audacious tastes. There is a choice of a simple warm spaghetti or saucy penne for you if you wanted Italian as well. Did I tell you, there is a Mexican bean burger and a wrap too?
Phew!!! I was spoilt for choice with this new addition to their menu and I'm pretty sure they will have a tough time bringing their older menu to their guests’ attention.
If you haven't tried the Hedgehog Mufflements yet, I suggest you wait no longer. The winters are bidding their farewells and the longer nights deserve nothing less.
