Watch The Leela Of Lord Rama At These Ramleela Grounds In Chandigarh
Vijayadashami, as the name reflects is the victory of good over evil. Popularly known as Dussehra in North, this is a holy festival which is celebrated all over India.
Honestly speaking, I was never fascinated by all these up until Chandigarh, the dream city was set alight with flowers, lanterns, lights, swings and the mela.
Various grounds and sectors in the beautiful city come alive during this festival and people from all over the region throng these places to witness the famous act in the history of Hindu mythology- The Ramleela.
Brief Note on Ramleela
Ram Leela as the name indicates is the story of Lord Rama and his victory over the Evil Ravana. Dusshera (‘Dash’ means ten and ‘hara’ means defeated) celebrated on the tenth day of Navratri, is an auspicious festival which is enriched and decoded by the enactment of Lord Rama’s life till he conquered Ravana. The tall effigies of Ravana, his son Meghnad and brother Kumbhakaran are burnt that explode with crackers and leave the audience awe-struck.
Head straight off to these places so that you enjoy the long weekend of Dussehra as these provide fantastic experiences to enjoy the culture, festival, and its significance.

This brings back my childhood memories of the art and craft. Making of Dhanush, Hanuman ji’s gada and other characters with my friends was always a joyous time. Feels like it’s still yester night’s talk.
