Seriously, nothing gets better than sitting quietly, without the pull of mundane distractions of the humdrum of life and to be able to dedicate that time to a great book.
Chill and Unwind
Hedgehog is a cute and welcoming cafe with just gorgeous ambience, which added to our experience. Basic black and wooden interiors with splashes of colour, create a visual delight. Whether you decide to slouch in a vibrant couch or sit with your laptop and work, the ambience is perfect for both.
Yes, they do have a dedicated area for all the workaholics with uninterrupted power for laptop and Wi-Fi for emails. The whole place is done up with books and different paintings that come together beautifully and catches attention as one enjoys their meal. They have a collection of indoor games that includes chess, ludo, snakes and ladders and more.
Also a perfect place for readers, one can pick a book from their bookshelves and enjoy reading as you sip along with a mug of flavored Macchiato (must have). The soothing music they play, adds to the charm of the cafe. Even for the little ones, they have a dedicated corner filled with crayons, toys, and storybooks, which will keep their busy minds and nimble fingers occupied all the time.
All in all, it is a quaint cozy cafe that you would love coming back more for its artsy vibes, decor, and the general feel-good factor of the place. And did we forget to tell you, this place is also a hub for artists, musicians, and writers to come together and share ideas. Often on both weekday and weekends, they have some sort of live music or book reading session going on. Truth be told, the place is always buzzing with activities.
Munch And smile
To keep your tummy happy, they serve breakfast, small bites, salads, pasta, pizza cafe staples of burgers and sandwiches, and more. Their breakfast options and salads can make a healthy meal for all the calorie conscious.
Needless to say, we ditched the healthy menu in favor of the Skewer Signs of Cheesy – a melange of cottage cheese cubes marinated in yummy herbs along with bell peppers and other veggies. Their Buffalo wings - crispy, tender marinated in chili and barbecue sauce and baked to perfection, were delicious, and one of our favorite pick.
But since we like spicy and if you do too, do try their Don Corn Bacon. Cheese, corn, and tomatoes come together in a dip, to give you a bowl full of spicy, cheesy goodness, served with pita and soft roll bread slices. One can also go for chicken bits or veg option, instead of bacon bits. They even have Hoglet breakfast for the kids.
Good Food Is An Added Bonus
Hedgehog has an extensive menu- a mish-mash of Continental and Italian offerings, but not a regular café menu, ‘cause what's the fun in that! They make things interesting with quirky names for the dishes and adventurous flavors. Really adventurous!! Think baked zucchini boats stuffed with cheesy fillings, covered with cheese and served with sumac fries and veggies.
For mains, the Peri Mason - grilled chicken smothered in peri-peri sauce served with pan tossed vegetables and rice makes for a vibrant plate of food. The flavor of the spices and garlic are enhanced by the zest of the lime juice while the chicken provides the necessary crunch.
The Himalaya is their best! Chicken stuffed with mozzarella and mushrooms, dusted with Himalayan rock salt and dry herbs, served with mashed potatoes and bread. Oh, and let's not even get us started on the mashed potatoes that comes as a side. It's a sin that it's a side. It should be the main course along with that delectable chicken. And eating here won't burn a hole in your pocket.
Satiate Your Sweet Tooth
Sugar, spice, and everything nice is what’s available at Hedgehog café. One can finish off the drool-worthy mains, with Hedgehog’s version of Cappuccino Tarts. Trust us, this decadent tart has everyone coming back for more. Here, the creamy dessert comes with a hint of coffee, sits on a crisp bed of tart pastry and is served with ice-cream, making this a bittersweet experience but not in a regrettable way. Trust us, this decadent tart has everyone coming back for more.
You also happily drool at the lemon cheesecake, Mississippi mud cake, and Nutella Cheese Mousse cake while you wait for your order. Have a smoothie if you don't feel like munching on anything. Our recommendation is the Choco-strawberry fields, a cheeky name for a chocolate covered strawberry.
For The Caffeine Obsessed
If it's freshly brewed coffee that wakes you up, head
straight to The Hedgehog cafe. The options available in the coffee menu keep
you from getting overwhelmed, making choices simple.
You would not be blamed for the involuntary smile on your face after the first sip of any of their brews. The Cuppa Chino here remains one of our all-time favorites. But if you are okay switching sides, there are some pretty interesting tea options as well. Think Herbal and CTC (crush, tear, curl).
Lovely ambience, guilt-free delectable food and your favourite books - winsome traits we say.
