Belum Caves

Belum Caves being the 2nd largest caves and the longest caves in the Indian Sub-continent is ranked 1st among places to visit in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh. The place is a tourist attraction for its unique formations such as stalactite and stalagmite formations. It has long passages, spacious chambers, fresh water galleries, and siphons. It has soft illumination and fresh-air-shafts are created in the caves. The rocks are beautifully carved and give you an amazing experience. The caves are little bit far away, but worth to visit. Distance (from Bangalore City) – 297.5 kms

Nandi Hills

Looking for a beautiful sunrise and love trekking… Nandidurga or Nandi hills with an altitude of about 1,478 meter is a popular tourist destination from Bangalore. An ideal place for hiking and trekking. If you really want to trek to the top of the hills, then take the southern route to go up else take the northern route which is usually crowded and is used by cyclists and bikers. It was one of Tipu Sultan’s summer retreats. Once you reach at the top, the place offers a mesmerized view of the valley. If you want to experience early morning Sunrise, then some options for accommodation at peak are there, but *self camping* on the peak is not safe. Shravanabelagola

One of the most famous pilgrimage for Jains in South India. It is one of the best heritage places to visit in Karnataka. The town is located between two rocky hills- Vindhyagiri and Chandragiri. The place is popular for the Bahubali Statue, which is considered to be the tallest monolithic stone statue in the world with a height of 58 feet and is carved out of a single rock of granite. The Gomateshwar temple is built on Vindhyagiri hill, you get an amazing view of the scenic beauty from the top of the hill. The Giant statue has it’s own beauty. Distance from Bangalore: 140 Kms

Mysore

With a rich heritage and a royal history, Mysore stands to be the 3rd largest city in the state of Karnataka. Famous for having the top heritage sites in India is perfect for a weekend getaway. Makalidurga Hill

This hill is situated near Makali village, Karnataka. The hilltop gives a beautiful view of the lake on the west, curvy roads and a railway track at the base of the hill and this view makes trekking more interesting. The hill is made up of granite stones, the larger rocks have made the place more popular among trekkers. Trekking here is moderately difficult as compared to Savandurga but still, it’d be an amazing experience. This place is more famous for night treks. Shivanasamudra Falls

Planning for a one-day trip to enjoy nature’s beauty, Shivanasamudra falls are one of the best falls near Bangalore and just 130 kms away. Best time to visit the place is from July to January, while August to October is the peak season. Situated on river Kaveri, the falls are also known as Siva Samudram, meaning Shiva’s Sea. The Shivanasamudra island divides Kaveri into two parts which form waterfall - Gaganachukki and Bharachukki, both are just approx. 1 km apart. Savandurga Hills
