One of the most scenic and attractive places in Chandigarh, the Zakir Hussain Rose Garden of Sector 16 has garnered a lot of customers over the years after its initial establishment. Outlined with different varieties of flowers that just add to the beauty of an already exquisite garden, this Rose Garden has hit off with tourists and residents of Chandigarh right from the start. Zakir Hussain Rose Garden Chandigarh

It was earlier known as the Zakir Hussain Rose Garden, in the loving memory of the former president of our nation Zakir Hussain. From the name itself we are able to gain information about the garden at the ground level- it quite simply is a park that is a shrine to some of the most amazing floral species of not just the country, but the entire world. 

A home to 825 varieties of flowers, 32,500 varieties of trees and medicinal plants, the Rose Garden of Chandigarh is as safe a Haven for plants as there can be. Asia's largest rose garden is an achievement within itself, an accolade which this garden rightfully deserves. Spread over an area of over 30 acres, having 50,000 rose bushes of a whopping 1600 different species of rose, that too having quite a few rare ones, the garden is a sight to behold.

Rose Festival- the Rose Garden serves as the hosting place for the annual Rose Festival held during February/ March. The festival is a tribute to the beauty of the rose and it's species, in a way the celebration of all that makes it beautiful and all it stands for. It includes joyrides, drinks, foods, events, and competitions like that of photography, gardening, landscape, bonsai, and others. The event is open to residents of neighboring areas. 

Rose species found here- Royal William Rose, Europa-Rosarium, Rosa Gallica, Beach rose, Rosa chinensis, Centifolia roses, Rosa glauca, and several others.
