With a decent budget, good content, homegrown superstars and larger than life picture, Punjabi movies are a delight to watch. The story is about the tiff between a mischievous Jatt, Fateh (Diljit) and the perfect representation of a modern woman Pooja (Neeru). Their paths intertwine on their way to Canada. With time and various series of events, their opposing views, and hatred for each other turn into love.
2. Carry On Jatta (2012)
Carry on Jatta is a comedy starring Gippy Grewal opposite Mahie Gill in the lead role. The story is about Jass (Gippy Grewal) who falls in love with Mahie (Mahie Gill). Mahie is persistent to marry an orphan just like herself. The movie turns into a laughing riot when Jass finally convinces Mahie for marriage. In order to marry her, he weaves a web of lies for himself and gets in trouble.
3. Punjab 1984 (2014)
Punjab 1984 is a period drama starring Diljit Dosanjh, Kiron Kher and Sonam Bajwa. The movie is based on the backdrop of 1984 Punjab, the time of insurgency. The story majorly revolves around a mother and her longing for her missing son who is labeled as a terrorist because of the then prevailing conditions in the state.
4. Yaar Anmulle (2011)
Yaar Anmulle is a light comedy starring Arya Babbar, Yuvraj Hans, Harish Verma, Jividh Ashta, Kajal Jain and Jenny Ghottra. The movie revolves around three friends studying in a university and their hostel life. The movie traces different elements of youth and friendship and their twisted love life.
5. Singh vs Kaur (2013)
Singh vs Kaur is a romantic comedy starring Gippy Grewal opposite Suvreen Chawla in leading roles. The story is about a young man Nihal Singh (Gippy Grewal) who manages to get rid of an unwanted marriage proposal by lying to the entire village about his non-existent love life. The greater problem arises with the fact that the picture of the girl shown to the villagers was randomly taken down from the web. In order to find the whereabouts of the girl, he flies to Canada.
6. Tu Mera 22 Main Tera 22 (2013)
Tu Mera 22 Main Tera 22 is a comedy starring Amrinder Gill and Yo Yo Honey Singh in lead roles. The story unfolds in Australia with the duo being thrown out of their house by their rich father. Both of them are sent Punjab to witness the hardships of life. The father challenges them to fulfill his one condition in order to inherit his wealth. The story follows some interesting turn of events.
7. Chaar Sahibzaade (2014)
Chaar Sahibzaade is an animated historical drama based on the sacrifices of the four sons of Guru Gobind Singh.
8. Jinhe Mera Dil Luteya (2011)
Jinhe Mera Dil Luteya is a comedy starring Diljit Dosanjh, Neeru Bajwa and Gippy Grewal. The story unfolds in the setting of Patiala University where two hunks Yuvraj (Gippy Grewal) and Gurnoor (Diljit Dosanjh) rebel against each other under a series of mischievous events. Actual problem arises when they both get attracted to the same girl Noor (Neeru Bajwa).
9. Angrez (2015)
Angrez is a romantic comedy starring Amrinder Gill, Shagun Mehta and Aditi Sharma. The story is based on the backdrop of the rural area of Punjab in 1940’s. The story is about a grounded thoughtful man who struggles to marry the love of his life.
10. Love Punjab (2016)
Love Punjab starring Amrinder Gill and Sargun Mehta is a family oriented movie. The story revolves around a couple who clash on a daily basis. The usual fights between them start to reflect on the mental health of their only son. After consulting a doctor, the family decides to leave for Punjab, where the couple reunites in the end.
